D2 is the dance company behind Coco, a unique dance movement that blends ballet, modern dance, physical theatre, kova, improvisation, and urban styles. Conceived during the pandemic as a movement research initiative in 2020, Coco aims to include diverse dancers, ensuring that no one feels excluded by the stereotypes associated with each dance style.

The name "Coco" is inspired by the Rococo art movement, which emerged in early 18th-century France, during the reign of Louis XV. Rococo art is characterized by its ornate and decorative style, emphasizing elegance, playfulness, and intricate detail. Originating as a reaction to the grandeur and strict regulations of the Baroque period, Rococo brought a lighter, more whimsical approach to art and architecture, influencing everything from painting and sculpture to interior design and fashion.

Much like Rococo's artistic philosophy, Coco seeks to merge various dance forms into a cohesive and inclusive expression of art. By drawing on the spirit of Rococo, Coco embodies a sense of creativity, diversity, and innovation, inviting dancers to explore and transcend traditional boundaries.

Scientifically, dance is known to offer numerous physical and mental health benefits. Engaging in diverse dance styles like those in Coco can improve cardiovascular health, enhance muscle strength and flexibility, and promote better coordination and balance. Additionally, the improvisational aspect of Coco encourages cognitive flexibility and creativity, stimulating brain regions involved in memory, learning, and emotional regulation. By incorporating a variety of movement techniques, Coco not only fosters artistic expression but also supports overall well-being and inclusivity in the dance community.
